Kosgoda offers a quieter side of Sri Lanka’s southern coast, where long beaches, tropical vegetation, and the Indian Ocean create a secluded setting for a private retreat. Located between Bentota and Ambalangoda, this coastal village is best known for its sea turtle conservation, making it an appealing destination for travelers who want to combine beachfront luxury with a meaningful wildlife experience.
At The Serendipity Collection, Green Turtle Villa is our exclusive private villa in Kosgoda. Set beside the renowned Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery, it offers a private coastal stay centered around the beach, the ocean, and the natural landscape. During the turtle nesting season, you may also have the opportunity to witness sea turtles coming ashore along the beach.
Set directly on the Kosgoda coastline, Green Turtle Villa is surrounded by tropical gardens and overlooks the Indian Ocean. Direct beach access allows you to move easily between the villa and the shore, while the private swimming pool provides a quieter place to spend the day.
The villa has four en-suite bedrooms and accommodates up to eight guests, making it well suited to families and groups traveling together. Spacious living areas provide comfortable spaces to gather, while the outdoor areas make the most of the tropical setting.
The experience is intentionally unhurried. You can begin the morning with a walk along the beach, spend the afternoon by the pool, or enjoy a long meal in the gardens while the sound of the ocean provides the backdrop.

One of Green Turtle Villa’s defining advantages is its location beside the Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery, a well-known conservation center dedicated to protecting sea turtles along Sri Lanka’s southern coast.
During the nesting season, guests may be able to see sea turtles emerge from the Indian Ocean and come ashore to lay their eggs. It is a rare opportunity to observe one of Sri Lanka’s most important marine wildlife experiences in its natural coastal setting.
Because nesting is a natural process, sightings cannot be guaranteed. However, staying beside the conservation area means you are exceptionally well placed to experience this part of Kosgoda’s wildlife heritage when conditions are right.

Green Turtle Villa is fully staffed, with a dedicated in-house chef and hospitality team providing personalized service throughout your stay.
Rather than following a fixed hotel routine, meals and daily arrangements can be adapted to your preferences. Breakfast can be enjoyed before a morning on the beach, lunch can be served beside the pool, and evenings can unfold over relaxed dinners overlooking the gardens and ocean.
The villa’s resident dogs are another distinctive part of the property. Friendly and much-loved by returning guests, they add a warm, informal character to the experience.
Kosgoda is well positioned for exploring the southwestern coast while remaining removed from the busier atmosphere of larger beach destinations.
The nearby coastline is ideal for swimming, beach walks, and quiet days by the ocean. You can also explore the surrounding villages and discover the region’s traditional way of life, local cuisine, and coastal landscapes.
For a change of scenery, Bentota is close by and offers river excursions, water-based activities, and a range of coastal experiences. Further south, Galle Fort provides an opportunity to explore Sri Lanka’s colonial heritage, historic architecture, galleries, cafés, and boutiques.
Ambalangoda, also within reach, is known for its traditional mask-making heritage and offers a glimpse into one of southern Sri Lanka’s distinctive artistic traditions.
For travelers interested in nature, the surrounding wetlands, lagoons, and river landscapes provide another perspective on the region beyond the beach.

The best time to visit Kosgoda is generally from November to April, when the southern and southwestern coasts experience their drier period, with favorable conditions for beach activities and coastal exploration.
This is also a popular period for enjoying the villa’s outdoor spaces and making day trips along the coast. If witnessing sea turtles nesting is an important part of your visit, it is worth planning your travel around the nesting season. As turtle activity is governed by natural conditions, sightings cannot be guaranteed.
Green Turtle Villa is our only private villa in Kosgoda, and its character comes from the setting as much as the property itself. Here, you can wake to the Indian Ocean, step directly onto the beach, enjoy meals prepared around your preferences, and, during nesting season, have the opportunity to witness sea turtles returning to the shore.
Through The Serendipity Experiences, we can also arrange private excursions and tailor your wider Sri Lanka journey around your interests, connecting your stay in Kosgoda with the island’s cultural, coastal, and wildlife experiences.
Discover Green Turtle Villa with The Serendipity Collection and experience Kosgoda through a more private and personal expression of Sri Lankan coastal luxury.
